The government will seek advices from foreign investors, representatives from tech, finance, real estate firms on building the city, which will be merged from 3 eastern districts of Ho Chi Minh City.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh told the plan at a recent meeting about the Project to establish a city under Ho Chi Minh City and the Project on not organizing the district and ward level People's Council, VnExpress reported.

The government will organize an online consultation with foreign investors on building the Thu Duc city to understand investment demand and infrastructure requirements.

In order to attract investment into Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh City was asked to clarify the highlights and differences between the new city and the other parts of Ho Chi Minh City, a driving force for growth of the country.

The city government will inform investors the form of mobilizing resources for infrastructure investment in Thu Duc city.

The Thu Duc city, or Eastern city, has been cherished by the Ho Chi Minh City government for years on the basis of merging three eastern districts of the city including Thu Duc, 2 and 9 with a total area of 211 square kilometers and more than a million people.

The development of this city is based on three platforms - the High-Tech Park in District 9, the National University in Thu Duc and the financial center in District 2’s Thu Thiem peninsular.

With 10 percent of Ho Chi Minh City’s population and area, Thu Duc city could be a driving force of the parent city, contributing 30 percent of the city’s GDP, equivalent to 4-5% of the country’s GDP.
