In a week, over 36 tons of masks sent abroad via Vietnam’s air freight services

In just one week, over 36 tons of medical masks were exported through Tan Son Nhat International Border Gate, according to report from the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department.

Between January 30th and February 4th, the city’s customs officers recorded over 36 tons of masks exported to mainland China, Hong Kong (China), Singapore and Malaysia through the border gate.

Amid coronavirus fears, medical equipment exports increased sharply. Before the epidemic outbreak, there was no mask sent abroad through air freight service, the department says in a posting on its website.

The Ministry of Finance has also proposed to control the price of medical masks and dry hand sanitizer. The import tariffs on masks and materials for making masks, dry hand sanitizers and epidemic-free medical supplies has been exempted for strengthening epidemic prevention capability in the country.

While nCoV epidemic is spreading masks are among the essential commodities that helping fighting the epidemic. Earlier, customs officers in Northern province of Lang Son reported that almost our million masks were exported to China between January 1 and February 2.

Officers in Northern province of Ha Giang also recorded 3.3 million masks and gloves exported to China through Thanh Thuy Border Gate, customs officers said.

Recently, local people across the country could not buy medical masks, which were sold several times higher than normal prices.
