Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien, the Metro Line No.1, is expected to test run an elevated route of over 8 kilometers from Suoi Tien to Binh Thai on December 21.

On 12/12, a representative of the Management Authority for Urban Railways of Ho Chi Minh City (MAUR) announced the information.

After bringing all 17 trains under the project to Ho Chi Minh City in May, this is the first time Metro Line No.1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) has been tested on the main line.

The test run is expected to last one day, with a train (No. 6 or 7) operated by Hitachi (Japan). The contractor will accept the overhead power system and primary power supply station prior to testing.

This unit also inspects locomotives and carriages to guarantee that every piece of equipment on the train runs safely and smoothly.

The elevated section is designed to go at 110 km/h, but during the test run, the train will travel at 5 km/h and subsequently grow to a top speed of 20 km/h.

Metro Line No.1 trains are completely built in Japan, and the three-car train is 61.5 meters long with a capacity of 930 people (147 seated guests and 783 standing passengers).

Since August of this year, all 17 ships in the project have been tested one by one in the Long Binh depot, along with functional testing of support systems like brakes, traction, power supply, and so on. Before testing on the main line, move the train to the elevated portion near the depot for technical examination.

According to MAUR, Metro train No. 1 will continue to test in other portions after completing the test run from Suoi Tien station to Binh Thai. The next test, together with the autonomous ATP train protection system, is set for January 16, 2023.
