Vietnam to produce African swine fever vaccine in second quarter

Vietnam has completed testing the African swine fever vaccine and is preparing for commercial production from the second quarter, Vietnam Television cited information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine JSC has successfully completed a 3-round vaccine test on 72 pigs and all of them gave good results against the virus.

With the success, this African swine fever vaccine will be manufactured for commercial purpose from the second quarter of this year.

The vaccine was researched and manufactured based on the African swine fever virus I177L. Vietnam has produced 4 batches of vaccine with more than 10,000 doses.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has assigned the Department of Science and Technology to set up an independent scientific council to test and evaluate vaccines.

Having the vaccine to be sold in the market in second quarter, Vietnam becomes the first country in the world producing a vaccine against African swine fever.
