Number of Vietnam’s nCoV recovered patients has turned six after doctors from the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases discharged three additional patients, Ministry of Health said in a posting on Monday afternoon.

The three new recovered patients discharged from hospital are in the group of eight workers returning Vietnam from China’s Wuhan city, where the virus killed almost a thousand people.

Earlier, doctors from Thanh Hoa General Hospital discharged a female patient after she recovered from the disease on February 3rd.

A day later, Chinese patient Li Zichao, 28 years old, who recovered from the illness after 14 days of treatment was discharged from Ho Chi Minh City-based Cho Ray Hospital.

Also on February 4, Khanh Hoa Tropical Diseases Hospital discharged a 25-year-old receptionist, who contracted the disease after having contact with Li Zichao and his father, the first two nCoV patients in Vietnam, after 3 tests giving negative results.

In related development, Vietnam’s Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology said it has developed test kits for the novel coronavirus that gives results in just 70 minutes, a much shorter time than the current four-hour tests.

Information about faster test kits was announced just a few days after the institute said it succeeded in cultivating and isolating the novel new coronavirus in lab.

Vietnam has so far confirmed 14 infections, including six workers returning from China’s Wuhan City last month, the mother, sister, cousin and neighbor of one of the workers, a Vietnamese-American visitor who transited in Wuhan, a Chinese man from Wuhan and his son who met him in Vietnam, and a hotel receptionist who served the father and son in Nha Trang.

As of Monday afternoon, the global death toll from the epidemic has reached 910 – one each in the Philippines and Hong Kong, and the remaining in mainland China. Number of infected case rose to 40,540.
