One more returnee from Russia tests positive with Covid-19, tally hits 314

A Vietnamese woman, aged 62, who is native of Thanh Hoa, was confirmed 314th coronavirus patient after returning from Russia, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.

The woman was quarantined on arrival at a medical facility in Hai Duong Province. She had samples taken for testing and she was confirmed positive Friday.

The latest infected case brings the nation’s total count to 314, of whom 260 have recovered.

The patient travelled the same flight with 24 passengers tested positive on Friday. They are Vietnamese citizens who were repatriated under a government program to bring home Vietnamese people living and working abroad.

In just 24 hours, Vietnam detected 26 new infected cases. All returned from abroad and were quarantined on arrival.

The country has gone 30 days without any infected case caused by community transmission.

During Friday government meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc ordered to to continue making efforts to curb the spread of the virus. The country continues to close its doors to commercial flights and foreign tourists, but calling for boosting domestic economy, he said.
