A Ho Chi Minh City apartment under lockdown to prevent coronavirus

Officials in Ho Chi Minh City has locked part of Su Van Hanh Apartment in District 5 after a man who lives in the residence was found to have contracted the virus.

The 23-year-old man who illegally entered Vietnam from Myanmar together with patient 1440 tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Patient No. 1440, who lives in Vinh Long, accompanied the resident of Su Van Hanh apartment from Myanmar to Thailand, Cambodia and then illegally entered Vietnam.

He was sampled on December 27 and tested positive for the virus. He was rushed to Cu Chi Field Hospital for quarantine and treatment.

According to local resident, block B of the apartment was locked down by the authorities on the evening of December 27.

On the morning of December 28, police, street guards and health agencies were on duty at the apartment building and distributed food to households inside the building.

Authorities are tracing people who had contact with the young men for quarantine and test. Fifteen people who had close contact with Patient No 1440 tested negative for SARS-CoV-2.
