21 people quarantined after having contact with an Indonesian suspected COVID-19 patient

Health officials in Ho Chi Minh City quarantined 21 people including 10 medical workers after having contact with an Indonesian citizen who had been suspected to have contracted coronavirus.

The 31-year-old patient was reported to have entered the city through Tan Son Nhat International Airport on March 11 and moved to Binh Duong province and stayed in a hotel in Ben Cat town, said the Centers for Disease Control in Ho Chi Minh City. 

During March 11 and June 29, the patient traveled between his office and hotel. He also visited supermarket, had dinner, but he did not visit Ho Chi Minh City.

He wore face mask when visiting Ben Thanh market on June 30 and did not remember who he had close contact. He visited a clinic in Thao Dien ward, district 2 in the city before returning to Binh Duong.

Health officials placed 10 medical workers at the clinic under home and centralized quarantine. Eleven people who were at the clinic with the patient were also designated for home quarantine.

The clinic was disinfected in the evening of June 30, temporarily blocked. The city is seeking people who had close contact with him.   

As of early July 1, the country has entered the 76th day without recording any new COVID-19 infection case in the community. 

Among 355 COVID-19 patients, 335 have been cleared of the virus and recovered, making up 94.4%. 

The other 20 active patients have been treated at medical facilities nationwide with stable health, of whom four were tested negative for the first time, five tested negative for second time and above and only 11 positive for the virus. 

At present, 12,580 people, who have been in close contact with COVID-19 patients or came from the pandemic-stricken areas, are under medical surveillance, including 96 at hospitals, 11,596 at centralized quarantine facilities, and 888 at places of residence.
