Sheraton Saigon celebrates Duanwu festival with handcrafted dragon boat dumplings

In anticipation of the Duanwu holiday, the Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers is pleased to introduce its new and improved dragon boat dumplings, which have nuanced tastes thanks to the use of only the highest quality ingredients.

The traditional cuisine of the celebration is dragon boat dumpling, also known as Zongzi, which is especially popular among the Vietnamese population of Chinese ancestry.

Each of our dragon boat dumplings is hand-made by the talented chefs at Li Bai Cantonese restaurant, who use a variety of fillings to create five unique dumplings. The dumplings in the shape of a dragon boat are available singly or in sets.

Dragon Boat Festival, sometimes called Double Fifth Festival, is celebrated throughout China and Southeast Asia on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated with family and friends and includes dragon boat races, folk entertainment, herbal baths, and rice dumpling feasts.

Dragon boat dumplings traditionally contain glutinous rice, seasoned pork belly, salted fried shrimp, sausage, salted egg yolk, shiitake mushroom, and various nuts. Dragon boat dumplings, served with sugar or syrup, are comparable to "banh chung" in ingredients and texture.

The dumplings are priced at VND178,000++ /piece for assorted nuts with mushroom fillings (vegan option); VND188,000++ per piece for the options of pork belly and chicken with black pepper sauce and VND 258,000++ per piece for the best-seller dried scallop, and VND 348,000++ per piece for the exceptional premium abalone fillings.

They are on sale till June 22. Guests can visit the hotel lobby or the Li Bai restaurant to taste and buy the special delicacies.
