Boeing to deliver 12 of 200 aircraft order to Vietjet in 2024

Vietjet’s Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Dr. Brendan Nelson, president of Boeing Global agreed with the commercial agreements. The two companies agreed to supplement the contents of the $25-billion contract for 200 737 Max aircraft which will be delivered in the next 5 years.

The contract to buy 200 aircraft from Boeing was interrupted due to Boeing's ability to supply aircraft worldwide and the subsequent impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The epidemic affected Boeing's global supply chain.

Several orders and aircraft delivery plans around the world have been canceled or delayed indefinitely. Vietjet suffered significant losses when the 737 Max aircraft line was not approved by foreign authorities and Boeing could not deliver on time.

While many airlines refused to implement the contract, Vietjet and Boeing persistently found a common voice to meet in a common long-term strategy and agreed to continue implementing the contract, Vietjet said in a statement.

Vietjet and Boeing’s cooperation achieved progress during US President Obama's visit to Vietnam in 2016 with a contract for 100 aircraft, and 2 years later, the order increased to 200 aircraft.

Vietjet's aircraft order brings 200,000 jobs to Americans, contributes to the growth of bilateral trade relations, and is also a testament to successful cooperation between businesses in the two countries.
