Vietnam’s number of new enterprises hits record high in first half

The number of new enterprises in the reviewed period increased 13.6% over the same period in 2021. By the end of the second quarter, there were 116,900 enterprises joining and re-joining the market.
The total registered capital of newly established enterprises reached VND882,122 billion ($38 billion), 1.2 times higher than the average in the period 2017-2021, which was VND749,019 billion ($32 billion).
In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the number of newly-established enterprises increased significantly. Hanoi had 14,628 newly established enterprises, up 9.8% from a year ago. This number in Ho Chi Minh City was 22,469 enterprises, up 11.5% over the same period last year.
Notably, from the beginning of the year until now, 40,667 enterprises returned to operation, up 55.6% and 1.9 times higher than the average in the period 2017-2021 (20,949 enterprises).
