Vietnam's 2022 economic growth estimated at 8.02%

Vietnam's GDP is expected to grow by 8.02% in 2022, the greatest growth rate between 2011 and 2022.

The economy expanded significantly in 2022 with good and consistent progress being made in each of the three regions; services rose by 9.99%; industry and construction increased by 7.78%; agro-forestry-fishery increased by 3.36%, according to the General Statistics Office. 

During the fourth quarter of 2022 alone, GDP is projected to expand by 5.92% over the same time in 2021, higher than the growth rates of 4.7% and 5.17% for the same periods in 2020 and 2021 but lower than the growth rates for the fourth quarter of the years 2011–2019.

At current exchange rates, the GDP per capita in 2022 is estimated to be VND 95.6 million, or $4,110, up $393 from 2021.

The labor productivity of the entire economy is estimated to be $188.1 million per worker in 2022 (equal to $8,083 per worker, up $622 from 2021).

With prices statistically controlled, labor productivity in 2022 rise by 4.8% as a result of better worker qualifications (the percentage of trained employees with degrees and certificates in 2022 reaches 26.2%, up more than 0.1% points from 2021).
