US spends over $1 bln on toys, sporting equipment from Vietnam

Vietnam’s toys, and sporting equipment exports reached $402.3 million in June, up 24.7% over the previous month. The US was the main market, according to the General Department of Customs.

Export of this group of goods was reported at $1.94 billion in the second quarter of the year, up 42.3 percent over the same period of last year. The United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Canada are these products’ major markets.

The six biggest markets accounted for over $1.56 billion, approximately 80.2 percent, of the export turnover of toys, sporting equipment, and parts in the first six months of the year.

Data shows that in June 2022, export turnover increased by 5.6 percent over the previous month to $32.65 billion. In general, export turnover of products was estimated at $185.94 billion in the first half of 2022, up 17.3 percent year on year.

With a turnover of $55.96 billion in the previous six months, an increase of 22.7 percent from the same time last year, the United States has remained Vietnam's top export market.

The EU market reached $23 billion, up 22 percent; the ASEAN market reached $17.7 billion, up 27.4 percent; Korea reached $12.2 billion percent, up 18.5 percent; and Japan reached $11.48 billion, up 13.9 percent. China comes in second with $26.3 billion, up 7.2 percent.
