This is an estimate as of December 20, 2022. While registered capital decreased, disbursed capital increased sharply, reaching about $22.4 billion.

According to the Foreign Investment Department (Ministry of Planning and Investment), as of December 20, 2022, the total newly registered capital, adjusted and contributed capital to buy shares, and buy contributed capital of foreign investors reached nearly $27.72 billion, an increase of 89% over the same period in 2021.

Among them, newly registered capital was roughly $12.45 billion, a decrease of 18.4% from the previous year; investment capital via capital contribution and share acquisition totaled 5.15%, a decrease of 25.2% from the previous year. Adjusted capital, on the other hand, reached over $10.2 billion, a 12.2% increase over the same time.

In terms of soliciting foreign investment in 2022, the Foreign Investment Agency stated that overall investment in 2022 will be lower than in 2021 due to global economic challenges, and the trend of outward investment outside of industrialized nations is showing symptoms of decline.

Despite a decline in total registered investment capital, the FDI reports that adjusted investment capital grew in terms of both investment capital and the number of adjusted projects in 2022.

According to the Foreign Investment Agency, the increase - a 12.2% increase in capital and a 12.4% increase in the number of adjustments (in 2022, there are 1,107 times of capital adjustment - PV) in the entire year of 2022 over the same period - confirmed foreign investors' confidence in Vietnam's economy and investment environment. As a result, international investors have opted to extend existing projects.
