Vietnam - Singapore Smart Energy Solutions (VSSES) opened a headquarter in Binh Duong, marking a milestone in its commitment towards delivering a new generation of sustainable smart energy solutions in Vietnam.

In a statement to media, the energy joint venture formed by Vietnam’s Becamex IDC Corporation, Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries, and Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park J.V., said it was on schedule to complete rooftop solar projects in Binh Duong Province by end 2020.

The energy joint venture plans to deliver economic and environmental benefits to customers and stakeholders through its rooftop solar solutions to VSIP’s townships and industrial parks, as well as Becamex-owned industrial parks and facilities across Vietnam.

This network represents over 1,000 potential business customers eligible for converting to renewable energy.

The smart energy firm which combines the sustainable energy and urban solutions and operational expertise offered by Sembcorp has built a team of local and regional experts to service customers in Vietnam centrally via its headquarters.

The new office will also be a centre for training employees on renewable energy operations, including digital applications.

Recently, VSSES commenced the construction and installation of approximately 8 megawatt-peak of rooftop solar projects in Binh Duong  Province, targeted for completion by end of the year.

It also completed a 51 kilowatt-peak rooftop solar installation atop the VSIP administrative building in Binh Duong Province in September 2019.

The renewable energy to be generated would help lower the carbon footprint for VSSES customers located within the industrial parks.

“We are excited to support Vietnam’s transition to a low-carbon energy future. With a permanent presence in Vietnam, we aim to hire and build a local workforce ready for renewable energy deployment. We look forward to providing affordable, customised sustainable solutions for local businesses and communities,” saod Andrew Toh, General Director of VSSES.

Becamex IDC is Vietnam's leading industrial infrastructure developer with extensive network of integrated townships and industrial parks across the country, while Sembcorp is a leading energy and urban development player in Singapore, driven by its purpose to do good and play its part in creating a sustainable future.

Sembcorp has a balanced thermal and renewable energy portfolio of over 12,600MW, with more than 2,600MW of renewable energy capacity globally.

The Singapore-Exchange-listed company also has a proven track record of transforming raw land into sustainable urban developments, with a project portfolio spanning over 13,000 hectares across Asia.
