Bamboo Airways to open direct air route to Germany’s Munich

The has become the first Vietnamese airline to operate direct flights to the Germany’s third largest city Munich from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
It is expected that there will be one weekly round-trip from Hanoi and two from Ho Chi Minh City using wide-bodied Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jets, beginning July this year.
The air carrier considers Europe a key market. It also plans to operate the first direct flight Czech Republic on March 29, 2020.
The number of passengers traveling from Munich airport to Vietnam has increased sharply in the last decade, from nearly 10,000 passengers in 2009 to more than 32,500 as of July 2019, according to the statistics of Munich Airport.
In 2019, Vietnam received 2.2 million European tourists, including 226,792 tourists from Germany, an increase of 6% compared to 2018, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
There are 176,000 Vietnamese live in Germany. The community is expected to be a source of travel demand, according to the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany.
The airline which operates 40 domestic and international routes and plans to increase the number to 85 this year, plans to open air route to Munich two weeks after the European Parliament ratified the European Union Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.
