E-commerce sector in Vietnam is expected to grow at the fastest rate among Southeast Asian countries, reaching $40 billion by 2027.

The data was announced in Southeast Asia's Digital Consumers: A New Stage of Evolution conducted by Bain & Company and Meta.

According to the survey, the average contribution of e-commerce to total retail in Vietnam has remained around 15% over the last year, with the online portion of overall retail being at 6%.

In the last year, the Southeast Asian country added 4 million digital customers who made online transactions.

Eight out of every 10 working-age persons are now digital users. This equates to 60 million digital customers in the country.

During the post-pandemic period, 10% of Vietnamese respondents to the report's study said they had switched at least one of their purchasing categories from offline to online.

According to the survey, the value of online purchasing climbed from $45 in 2021 to $50 in 2022.

SYNC Southeast Asia conducts research on around 16,000 digital customers and interviews with over 20 customer experience managers in six Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
