inDriver, a ride-hailing service with more than 39 million users in more than 300 cities in 31 countries launched a pilot program in Vietnam after going live in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines.

In Vietnam, the ride-hailing firm launched a pilot program in Da Nang, Hoi An, and Go Noi, offering the service was described as a unique Real-Time Deal feature.

The function allows passengers to set their preferred fare and drivers to choose the most profitable and convenient orders. Nearby drivers who received ride request notifications have the freedom to choose either to accept the offered fare, ignore the offer, or bargain for a better price.

The Real-Time Deal model, which combats algorithms used by other ride-hailing companies that increase ride prices due to peak hours, traffic conditions, and request history, also ensures passengers are able to book rides at affordable rates at any time, InDriver said.

“We want customers and drivers to independently and directly determine the fair and favorable price of each trip”, said Egor Fedorov, Chief Operating Officer of inDriver told Vietnam Insider.

Currently, more than 1,000 drivers in Da Nang have already signed up with inDriver, and more are being registered daily, said the company which was founded in Yakutsk, Russia and headquartered California, US.

InDriver’s Vietnam expansion comes at a time when the country’s ride-hail markets are becoming competitive with presence of Grab, GoViet, Be, Vato, MyGo, FastGo.

Meanwhile, local startups Unicar and ZuumViet are preparing to launch ride-hailing services alongside delivery and other logistics.
