Indonesian’s most valuable startup Gojek will unify its Vietnamese brand GoViet and bring it under one technology platform, a move to enhance its strength amid fierce competition against Grab.

Beside Vietnam, Gojek also brought its local brand in Thailand into one brand and application platform. The move is expected to help the startup to fight against Grab, which is operating more widely in the region.

In a statement sent to local, GoViet said that will share the same name and application as its parent company. It new name is Gojek Vietnam.

This marks a significant milestone in the company’s long-term strategy, and builds on the success of the GoViet platform, company said.

Under the new business strategy, Phung Tuan Duc, GoViet co-founder and former Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed as General Manager of Gojek Vietnam.

Gojek is Southeast Asia’s leading technology group and a pioneer of the integrated Super App model connecting users to over two million registered driver-partners and 500,000 merchants in over 200 cities across five Southeast Asian countries.

The Gojek app, which is underpinned by a new international technology platform, will enable the company to fulfill Vietnamese users’ changing needs and priorities by innovating and introducing new features and products more quickly and seamlessly.

The app will deliver an improved user experience, with a cleaner, simpler user interface and multiple feature upgrades. Vietnamese users will also be able to access Gojek services in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. GET, the company’s brand in Thailand, will also be updated to become Gojek.

Since its launch in Vietnam in August 2018, GoViet has seen exponential growth, establishing a thriving ecosystem of users and creating significant positive social impact for drivers and merchants.

With services for motorbike ride-hailing (GoBike), logistics (GoSend), and food delivery (GoFood), GoViet currently serves millions of consumers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and has created income-earning opportunities for more than 150,000 driver-partners and 80,000 merchants, the majority of which are micro, small and medium-sized businesses.

In its first year of operation, the company reached 100 million bookings, and then doubled this to 200 million bookings six months later. Users consistently provide a high satisfaction rate (98%).

Under the leadership of newly appointed General Manager Phung Tuan Duc, the company will continue to be guided by the same hyperlocal approach and deep understanding of customer needs that fueled its current success.
