In April, about 400,000 tonnes of rice will be exported.
However, the Vietnamese premier instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to closely follow and implement the rice export management and ensure national food security and maintain the production chain and good prices for farmers.
The export plan was said to complete the dual goal, which is to win pandemic and maintain production and economic growth.
Earlier, the ministry proposed the Government to allow exporting 800,000 tonnes of rice in April and May since the country has enough rice reserves for food security.
For food security purposes, in April and May, the country has about 300,000 tonnes. It will have an additional 400 thousand tonnes of rice to face possible situations caused by the pandemic in April and May.
The proposal came after the government’s decision to completely halt exporting rice.
