Vietnam’s aviation sector records 42% growth in seven months

The total number of passengers carried by domestic carriers increased by 20.1%. Particularly, the volume of foreign passengers surged 424.2% year-on-year, while domestic passengers decreased by 4.4%, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
Bamboo Airways was the most punctual carrier since the beginning of 2023, with an OTP rate of 92.7%.
It was followed by VASCO, which received 90%; Vietravel Airlines and Vietnam Airlines received 86.9% and 86.2%, respectively. Pacific Airlines and Vietjet Air had the lowest rates, with 84.5% and 81.7%, respectively (lower than the industry average of 85.4%). Meanwhile, the rate of canceled flights decreased by 0.3% throughout the time.
In August, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested air carriers to continue increasing seats and planning security to tighten at airports during the four-days holiday of the National Day holiday on September 2, particularly at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai International Airports.
Accordingly, Bamboo Airways continued making plans to provide nearly 170,000 seats, with an increase of 12-15% more than usual. Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and Vasco are expected to offer nearly 400,000 seats, an increase of 15%.
