During the 4-month period, the sector achieved a total trade value of $21.1 billion from agricultural, forestry and aquatic products, with an export value of $11.9 billion, down 4.9 percent year on year, and an import value of $9.17 billion, down 5.2 percent.
The main exported farm products including timber and wood products, coffee, rubber, rice, cashew nuts, fruits, and shrimp recorded export turnover of $5.8 billion, down 4.5%.
Regarding export markets, China remained the largest export market of Vietnam with $2.8 billion, down 17.7% over the same period of last year.
The Chinese market accounts for 26.9 percent of total export revenue in the period. The US market with $2.78 billion accounts for 23.3 percent of the market share.
Vietnam exported 1.92 million tons of rice and earned $886 million in the first four months of this year. In the first 3 months, the Philippines was the biggest market for Vietnam’s rice with a 36.7% market share by importing 594,000 tons, up 8.2%.
