The Vietnamese government chief said that new coronavirus outbreaks around the world are likely to spread into Vietnam. The day for the new measures has not been announced as more foreign nationals have been tested with the virus in the country.
Prime Minister Phuc highly appreciated the ministries and branches that have implemented the prevention and control tanks to fight against the epidemic.
“In the coming days, the number of infected people may increase but Vietnam has enough resources, experience and willpower to prevent epidemics. For the health of Vietnamese citizens, we are willing to sacrifice economic benefits in the short term,” Voice of Vietnam cited the Government chief.
Regarding the entry into Vietnam, the Prime Minister Phuc proposed to suspend tourist visas with Shengen and UK citizens for the next 48 hours. For the US, the policy will be applied depending on the situation for each state.
Of 29 new confirmed cases in Vietnam as of Friday, 11 patients are foreign nationals.
It is estimated that between 2,000 and 3,000 Vietnamese nationals travel by air when returning to the country from Europe each day, according to a report from the National Steering Committee on Epidemic Prevention and Control.
National airlines have been asked to guide foreign passengers traveling to the country by air to wear face masks on flights whilst also providing them with helpful information regarding the nation’s epidemic prevention measures.
Airports are now distributing face masks for free, with their use being required when entering Vietnam.
