Vietnam to build Na San airport under the PPP mode

Son La Provincial People's Committee has issued Report No. 136/2022 on the investment and construction of Na San airport under the PPP mode.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh assigned the ministry to study the recommendations of the People's Committee of Son La province in the above document under the direction of the Prime Minister.

The proposal signed by the Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee, Hoang Quoc Khanh, proposes to build Na San airport in Mai Son district, on the base of the old airport with an area of about 249 hectares.

The investment will be divided into 2 phases. 

Phase 1 will build Na San airport reaching level 4C, according to the classification of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and military airport level I with a capacity of 1 million passengers/year.

Phase 2, items will be expanded to reach a capacity of 2 million passengers/year, ensuring compliance with the post-2030 planning.

Preliminary total project investment is up to $129 million, phase 1 needs $109 million, and it will take 47 years and 3 months for Na San airport to have a payback.
