Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc suspended visa exemption for eight European nations, a move to fight coronavirus as several people have been detected to have the virus after a flight from London.

Addressing Monday meeting on preventing the virus, the Vietnamese premier decided to temporarily cancel visa-free travel for citizens from Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, England, Germany, France and Spain.

Additional 14 infected people found on weekend closely linked to a 26-year-old woman and several foreign nationals on flight from London to Hanoi.

The Vietnam’s government also considered to apply the same measure to countries that have more than 500 infected cases or more than 50 cases confirmed daily. Vietnam also suspended visa-free policy for Italian citizens last week.

Prime Minister Phuc recommended officials to temporarily stop attending meeting and events abroad to prevent the virus. He also urged relevant agencies to supply enough essential consumer goods, especially food, medicine for citizens’ demands these days.
