Quarantine facilities in Hanoi are getting overloaded and there is no room for additional travelers. The ministry ordered the suspension March 26, 2020 to March 31, 2020.
Earlier, the ministry also requested to suspend receiving Vietnamese from abroad from international flight to Tan Son Nhat Airport since the quarantine facilities in Ho Chi Minh City were no longer able to receive more travelers. The suspension will be applied between March 25 and March 31.
Some 44,636 Vietnamese nationals returning home between March 7 and 24 and most of them were asked to conduct home quarantine and centralized quarantine, make medical declarations, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told Thursday meeting on preventing the pandemic in Hanoi.
The government chief lauded the efforts made by the Ministry of Public Security in tracing all Vietnamese and foreign nationals entering Vietnam between March 7 and 24 in a bid to the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Beside the Vietnamese returnees, the ministry has found and requested 36,911 foreigners to isolate themselves at places of residence in the reviewed period.
He also haled efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its representative agencies in disseminating necessary information to Vietnamese people living and working abroad and managed to repatriate at least 766 students.
There are about 560,000 Vietnamese guest workers in 36 countries and territories, where the virus is spreading, VietnamPlus cited data from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
About 48,000 of them works in Korea while 230,000 others work or get training in 47 provinces and cities of Japan. In Europe, there are about 10,000 Vietnamese guest workers.
As of Thursday morning, 17 out of 148 patients have recovered and exited hospitals. The local health officials also monitor 46,933 people who have been in close contact with the COVID-19 patients or returning from pandemic-stricken areas.
