Vietnam requests compulsory health declarations for all citizens

Vietnamese government has requested compulsory health declarations for all citizens in the country, starting on March 10, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam told a meeting to prevent coronavirus on Sunday.

Deputy PM Dam, who is also head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, asked the Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Health, and other relevant agencies to prepare for the the declarations can be done online.

The measure which is expected to help curbing the epidemic will applied to prevent Vietnamese citizens from leaving the countries and travelling to countries where COVID-19 infection has been reported. 

Vietnam have made mandatory medical declarations for all people entering Vietnam, but that is not enough, it is necessary to implement medical declarations for all Vietnamese people, he said.

This is not only a responsibility to fight against epidemics but also a specific action for all Vietnamese to join hands, unite and whole the people to fight against epidemics. The declared information must be strictly managed, only serving against epidemics.

At the meeting, members of the committee decided to propose the the Government to suspend the unilateral visa exemption to countries of the European Union and the UK, and countries outside the EU with more than 500 infected cases.
