The coronavirus-hit doctor, the first one in Vietnam, has become the third medical worker contracting the disease in Vietnam. The patient who works at the emergency department of Central Tropical Diseases Hospital’s Dong Anh chapter was not confirmed to have contracted the virus from his patients.
However, the ministry statement said the 116th patient had involved in combating coronavirus at the hospital since January 31, 2020.
He was asked to screening suspected patients, offer treatment to people diagnosed with the disease and participate in emergency care severe patients. He was provided enough personal protective equipment at work.
On March 19, he showed symptoms of sore throat and got cough, muscle aches and fever a day later. He made self-isolation in the emergency department from March 21.
All of medical workers at the hospital have been tested and giving negative results. The patient has been put under treatment and isolation at the hospital, where he works as a doctor. He is in stable health condition.
Last week, two nurses in Bach Mai Hospital were tested positive with the virus, the Ministry of Health said.
The 114th patient is a 19-year old male student from Hanoi’s Hoang Mai District. He returned to Vietnam from the Netherlands on March 15 on flight SQ176 after transiting in Singapore.
Upon his arrival, he was taken to a centralized quarantine facility in Son Tay town and developed symptoms of fever and sore throat on March 19.
He is being treated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.
The 115th patient, aged 44, who lives in the Czech Republic and is daughter of a previously announced patient, the 94th.
She landed in Noi Bai International Airport on March 18 on same flight SU 290 with her mother and they were taken to a centralized quarantine facility in the northern province of Bac Giang.
She was confirmed having the virus on March 20 and is being treated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.
