Vietnam quarantines 751 Samsung workers after a coronavirus case confirmed
All of the workers put under centralized or home quarantine were identified to have direct or indirect contact (F1, F2) with Patients numbered 262, a worker of Samsung Display, who lives in Ha Loi Village in Hanoi, one of the major epidemic clusters in Vietnam.
Of the workers found as of end-Tuesday, 180 workers, who had direct contact with the confirmed patient, have been put under concentrated quarantines at several locations.
Other 571 workers who had indirect contacts with the patient have also been quarantined in Bac Ninh and other provinces.
More than a hundred workers have been tested and 93 gave the negative result as of end-Tuesday. The production line where the patient works have been suspended.
On Sunday, a 25-year-old worker of the quality control unit of the Samsung Display factory in Bac Ninh province tested positive with coronavirus.
Samsung Electronics representative told Reuters that the production lines in Samsung Display had not been affected.
Samsung Electronics is the largest single foreign investor in the Southeast Asian country, and its shipments, mostly smartphones, account for around a quarter of Vietnam’s exports.
As of Wednesday morning, Vietnam reported 267 infected cases, including 13 confirmed patients found in Ha Loi village.
Of the total confirmed cases, 169 patients have completely recovered, accounting for 64% of the total number of patients, according to the Ministry Of Health.
