The Vietnamese government decided to temporarily ban travelers who have been in the Schengen countries, the United Kingdom and North Ireland on Sunday.
Vietnam also suspended issuing visas on arrivals to travelers from all countries. The proposal was made after the virus infected cases increased rapidly in the country.
As of Monday night, Vietnam confirmed 61 patients, with four new cases. The latest patient is a 42-year old man in Thuan Nam district of the central province of Ninh Thuan, the Ministry of Health said.
He left for Malaysia on February 27 and flew to Ho Chi Minh City on flight VJ826 on March 4.
On March 10, the man showed symptoms of sore throat and fever and went to Ninh Thuan’s General Hospital on March 15 for medical checks and treatment.
Earlier the same day, the ministry reported three new infection cases, including two Vietnamese and one French national.
Of the total patients in Vietnam, 16 had been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospitals.
