Vietnam plans direct monthly payments up to $76 to coronavirus-affected citizens

The policy which will be discussed during the monthly government meeting on Wednesday (April 1) is proposed to support the poor, part-time workers, and those who have income reduced from the public health crisis.
There will be a direct support of VND1 million ($42.5) to a person from poor households every month.
Self-employed workers without contracts and those who lost jobs or unemployed, household businesses that have to temporarily operations due to COVID-19 will also eligible for policy.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to review the criteria of people who are in difficult situation and affected by the crisis.
The government will offer VND28 trillion-VND30 trillion ($1.19 billion to $1.27 billion) in cash to implement the project, Reuters cited information from the government meeting.
Earlier, Vietnam decided to temporarily suspend lottery services which create jobs to several people, as a move to prevent the spreading of the virus.
