The Vietnamese companies joined the business matching program organized by the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, the Coordinating Office for the New Rural Development Program of Hanoi, and the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany's Trade Office. Germany, which has the world's second-largest organic market, is one of the main markets for Vietnamese organic products.
The European consumers, especially Germans, are interested in organic products that are beneficial to health. The Vietnamese Trade Representative in Germany, Ms. Do Viet Ha, provided Vietnamese businesses with information about the German market.
Revenue from organic food in Germany has increased significantly over the past decade. The demand for organic products in Germany and Europe in general has decreased in the past year due to inflation, soaring energy prices, the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. However, experts believe that this situation is only temporary.
The German government is very interested in the development of organic agriculture and has set a target that by 2030, the area of organic farming will account for 30% of the total agricultural land.
The potential and opportunities for Vietnamese organic products are increasingly expanding, especially with the advantages of the Vietnam-European Union Free Trade Agreement.
Vietnamese businesses need to comply with the import countries' food safety regulations and international organic consumption certification requirements to improve product quality and expand the export market for Vietnamese organic products.
