According to Xiaomi, "Made in Vietnam," smartphones have been sold all over the world. This comes as a big surprise, as Xiaomi phones are mostly manufactured in China.
The representative of DBG Technology - Mr. Henry Wu said that the cooperation in manufacturing Xiaomi products in Vietnam not only directly affects the domestic market but also opens up opportunities to export "Made in Vietnam" products to other important markets in the region.
According to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first half of the year, the export of phones and components led the main export group, reaching $29.17 billion, up 16.4% over the same period.
In the main markets, including the US, reached $6.61 billion, up 53.7%; China is worth $6.45 billion, up 16.6%; Korea reached $2.78 billion, up 29.8% over the previous quarter.
GfK's 2021 statistics show that, despite the impact of the epidemic, the number of smartphones sold in the Vietnam market grew well from 15.7 million units in 2020 to 16.8 million units. The proportion of smartphones with basic phones is also growing year by year. In 2020, the corresponding figure is 71% and 29%, and by 2021 it is 80% and 20%.
In fact, not only Samsung, Xiaomi, but other well-known phone lines such as LG, Google, Lenovo, Sony, Nokia, etc. Also, have factories in Vietnam. Recently, smartphone companies have planned to raise capital or open a phone factory in Vietnam.
Reuters news agency also recently said that Pegatron - Apple's iPhone manufacturing partner is planning to expand factories in other countries outside the Chinese market, including Vietnam.
It is entirely possible for Pegatron to choose Vietnam as a place to produce iPhone phones. Because important Apple product lines such as iPad, AirPods, MacBook, etc. Have been manufactured in Vietnam and exported around the world.
