Vietnam invests $5.47 billion in Laos

In the first 8 months of 2023, the total registered investment capital of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos reached $114 million, an increase of 71.1% year on year.
Vietnamese investment projects contributed to socioeconomic development, created jobs, increased income for thousands of workers, and generated income for the Lao state budget, commented Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung the conference held on Tuesday in Laos.
During the event, both sides signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Border Infrastructure Development and Connection between the Vietnamese and Lao Governments” and coordinated to amend the Vietnam-Laos Trade Agreement and the Vietnam-Laos Border Trade Agreement.
During the first 6 months of 2023, Vietnam-Laos trade turnover maintained growth, reaching over $833 million.
