The plan aims to synchronize and effectively implement fisheries laws and regulations, address existing shortcomings and limitations, and remove the “yellow card” warning by 2023.
The plan tasks relevant ministries and localities to review and compile a comprehensive list of all local fishing vessels, complete 100% of registration, inspection, and marking of fishing vessels, issue fishing licenses, and install vessel monitoring systems (VMS) as required by regulations.
The plan also aims to end illegal fishing activities in foreign waters by May 2023 and investigate and process 100% of the cases where Vietnamese fishing boats were seized by foreign countries.
Vietnam is determined to ensure that 100% of the documents for exported seafood shipments to the European market and other markets with traceability requirements are in compliance.
The plan also includes conducting strict inspections of designated fishing ports and implementing international cooperation activities on fishing and IUU fishing prevention.
