Vietnam hosts first logistics safe driving skills competition
On December 7, the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), in coordination with ITL Corporation, organized the Vietnam Logistics Safe & Excellent Driving Skills Award 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City. This marked the first time a professional driving skills competition for logistics drivers has been officially held in Vietnam.
According to the General Statistics Office, freight transport volume in the first 11 months of the year reached more than 2.7 billion tonnes, up 14.7% year-on-year, with road transport accounting for approximately 75% of total cargo volume. Against this backdrop, road safety and the quality of the driver workforce have become increasingly important factors in the logistics supply chain.
The competition brought together 25 drivers from 17 logistics companies, competing in two categories: container trucks and light trucks. Contest tasks focused on practical driving skills, situational awareness and compliance with safety procedures, including pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections, as well as vehicle handling in challenging conditions.
The judging panel comprised representatives from the transport, vehicle registration, insurance and technical sectors. A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department noted that the competition addressed key driving skills closely linked to traffic safety, particularly for heavy trucks and container vehicles.
