Vietnam has confirmed 12 cases of the coronavirus in 4 localities

Vietnam has reported two more coronavirus infected cases in Northern province of Vinh Phuc, raising total number of patient in the country to 12, Ministry of Health said on Thursday.

So far, the infected cases have been reported in Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa, and Ho Chi Minh City.

These two new cases are human-to-human transmission among family members. New patients are mother and sister of a 23-year-old female patient, who returned Vietnam from China’s Wuhan city together with other seven people on January 17.

The two new patients had been monitored by health agencies and local authorities.

As of January 6, Vinh Phuc has 7 cases out of 12 reported nationwide. Of the seven cases in the province, three had their disease locally transmitted from people returning from Wuhan.

According to report from Ministry of Health, four out of the cases have tested negative for the virus, three have been discharged from hospitals while 304 people are in suspect and 77 are put under quarantine.

The coronavirus has killed nearly 563 people and infected more than 28,000 since December.
