Total infected cases of coronavirus in Vietnam has risen to 270, after two students returning from Japan tested positive with the virus, Ministry of Health said.

They landed in Van Don airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh on April 22 and were immediately taken to a centralized quarantine camp in Thai Binh Province.

One of the new patients is a 23-year old man and the other is a 22-year old woman. Both are from Bac Giang Province.

They are being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi’s Dong Anh District.

So far, Vietnamese health workers have been medically monitoring 68,890 people, including 352 at hospitals, 17,832 at centralized camps and 50,706 at places of residence.

Among the total 270 detected patients, 224 have been cleared of the virus and released from hospitals.

Vietnam has kept its Covid-19 infection tally unchanged for eight straight days.

With the two new patients, the country has 46 active patients while 224 have been discharged from hospitals.
