Vietnam asks importers to boycott products with China’s illegal map

Vietnam has advised importers to make sure that all of imported products with China illegally-claimed nine-dotted line map on East Sea are brought to the country.

Recent statement from the Ministry of Industry and Trade says that enterprises must enhance monitoring of the imported goods, especially products including maps, publications, gadgets.

Importers should request for sellers’ written commitment that none of their products violate Vietnam’s sovereignty.

Violating businesses could be strictly punished under State management agencies in accordance with the law, statement says.

Recently, Vietnam decided to fine Volkswagen AG’s local distributor and a car importer over a navigation app reflecting China’s nine-dash-line claims. Solar power inverters were also found using a software that contain refer to the illegal map.
