UK-based Enterprize Energy to invest $12bln into Vietnam wind power

Ian Raymond Hatton, chairman of the energy giant told Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc the investment plan during a meeting on Wednesday that the corporation will investment in wind power, transmission network, and wind turbine manufacturing.
Enterprize Energy plans to invest $12 billion in the project’s life cycle, and 50 percent of the amount will be injected into Vietnam's economy. With approval from the Government, the wind turbine manufacturers of this group will come to Vietnam to invest in manufacturing equipment.
The group has been working closely and actively with the local government of Binh Thuan Province to implement the project, according to a posting on Government’s website.
The group plans to use electricity from the project to electrolyze seawater, helping to solve the problem of transmitting and producing liquefied hydrogen gas and ammonia.
In the first phase of the project, it plans to mobilize capital from foreign partners. It also invest in transmission lines to connect with the national power system.
Last year, it received the permission from the authority to carry out survey for its 3.4-GW wind farm off the coast of Binh Thuan province.
Enterprize Energy will be allowed to conduct survey on an area of 2,800 square kilometres, about 20-50 kilometres from the Binh Thuan provincial shore.
