Two railway projects worth $3.8 bln to be built under PPP mode

The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau and Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway projects have received Government approval to be built under the Public-Private partnership.

The Government Office has issued a document conveying the opinions of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh on the assignment of competent agencies to invest in the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau and Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railways.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Transport to agree with the local governments of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and relevant agencies on the investment plan for the railway lines in accordance with the directives in Document No. 1941/VPCP-CN dated March 30, 2022, of the Office of the Government.

The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway route is about 65km in length with the starting point in Trang Bom and the endpoint at Cai Mep - Thi Vai international port. The proposed scale is 1,435mm, in which: the Bien Hoa - Thi Vai double road, and the Thi Vai - Vung Tau single road. Total investment is about VND50,822 billion ($2.1 billion), by PPP contracts.

The Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway route is about 37.5km in length. Starting point is at Thu Thiem, Ho Chi Minh City and the end point is Long Thanh International Airport.

The proposed scale of implementation: double track, gauge 1,435mm, serving passengers only. Total investment is about VND40,566 billion ($1.7 billion), by PPP contracts.

The Government has issued Resolution No. 105/NQ-CP, implementing Resolution No. 57/2022/QH15 dated June 16, 2022, of the National Assembly on investment policy in Ring Road No. 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City.

The project has a total investment of VND75,378 billion ($3.2 billion), and the construction of Ring Road 3 of Ho Chi Minh City to start in June 2023.
