Two locked-down Bach Mai Hospital’s workers among six new coronavirus patients, tally hits 169

Two employees at the hospital, the 168th and 169th patients, were found to have contracted the virus when the hospital tested nearly 5,000 workers after at several people including a doctor, two nurses had tested positive with the virus.
With the two new patients, eight patients have been identified to be related to the hospital which has been receiving several coronavirus patients for quarantine and treatment.
The hospital has been locked down to prevent the spread of the virus.
On Friday, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said that the coronavirus cluster at the hospital has been put under control. The Heart Institute, Department of Cardiology and Center for Tropical Diseases of the hospital have been comprehensively quarantined.
As many as 573 persons, including medical staffs, patients, and caretakers who had been in close contact with COVID-19 patients have also been quarantined, he added.
On March 20, the Ministry of Health confirmed that two female nurses working at the hospital contracted the virus. One of them works at the Heart Institute and the other is a staff at the Center for Tropical Diseases.
Four days later, the ministry announced a 66-year old woman from Lai Chau Province, who had received treatment at the hospital, was tested positive for the virus.
Among the 169 infections confirmed, Vietnam has discharged 20 after treatment.
