Seven newly-imported COVID-19 patients confirmed on Wednesday afternoon are Russian oil experts, raising the patient tally to 408, reported the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The latest patients, who are among passengers onboard the flight IO4405, landed at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on July 11.

They were first tested negative for the virus on July 13 but they were confirmed positive after the second round of tests on Wednesday.

All of them are being treated at the Ba Ria General Hospital in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau. They had been quarantined at arrival, so there is no risk of community transmission.

The patients are male, aged between 42 and 55 years old.

Of the total 408 confirmed patients, 365 have recovered, accounting for 89.5% of the total number of COVID-19 cases in our country. Vietnam has not recorded any community transmission of the COVID-19 virus for more than three months.
