Samsung engineers complete 14-day quarantine, tested negative with coronavirus twice

Samsung Display’s 172 engineers, who had been sent to Vietnam, have completed 14-day quarantine and tested negative with the virus, said Health Department of Bac Ninh, where the tech giant installed plants.

The engineer flew into Vietnam from the Republic of Korea on March 13, four medical workers, six policemen involved in the engineers' quarantine process and 53 staff members at the hotel where they were quarantined also tested negative for the coronavirus.

Earlier, the Vietnamese government allowed the engineers to skip centralized quarantine to maintain work in Vietnam.

As scheduled, 179 other engineers of Samsung will travel to Vietnam from South Korea to work on Saturday.

After receiving them at Quang Ninh Province’s Van Don airport, Vietnamese agencies will take details of their personal information and travel history in the 14 days before their arrival, and check the SARS-CoV-2 test document provided by the Kangbuk Samsung Hospital.

The engineers will then be taken to the hotel in Bac Ninh’s Yen Phong District for quarantine.

As of Monday morning, Vietnam has reported totally 194 infected people, of whom 52 have recovered, with 27 newly discharged patients.
