In October, Vietnam's rice exports totaled 713,546 tons and were valued at $341,064 million, up 22.3% in volume, 23.9% in value over the previous month, according to the General Department of Customs.
Since the country started exporting rice, October 2022 has seen the biggest volume of rice exported.
Rice supplies are in limited supply in many Asian nations due to severe weather, but Vietnam's rice export industry has benefited from India's 20% tax on all of its rice exports.
Vietnam's 5% broken rice price also reached its highest level since November of the previous year in October 2022, averaging $425-430/ton.
According to the Mercantile Exchange of Vietnam (MXV), the rise may continue through the end of December, given the favorable circumstances for the rice sector in international trade and the increase in local demand towards the end of the year.
