Nine-month seafood exports to China jumps over 85%: Ministry

Seafood exports to China climbed by 85.2% in the first nine months of 2022 over the same period of 2021, according to latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Vietnam's seafood export value is expected to be $900 million in October 2022, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, bringing the total value of seafood exports in the first ten months of 2022 to $9.39 billion, an increase of 32.7% over the same period of 2021.

Pangasius export is predicted to be worth $183 million. This brings the export value of this type of fish in the first 10 months of 2022 to $2.063 billion, up 76.5% over the same time in 2021. 

In October 2022, the export value of shrimp is projected to reach $444 million. The expected value of shrimp exports for the first ten months of 2022 is $3,840 million, a 20.3% increase over the same time in 2021.

In the first nine months of 2022, the import value accounted for 50.1% of the total seafood export value in the top 3 seafood import markets for Vietnamese seafood, which are the United States, Japan, and China.

As a result, the value of seafood exports rose in nearly all markets in the first nine months of 2022, with the exception of Russia (down 11%). China has had the largest rise in seafood export value, up 85.2%.
