Jan.-Aug. exports to CPTPP nations increased by 38.7% to $41 bln

Vietnam's export value to CPTPP member nations climbed by 38.7 percent to $41 billion in the first eight months of 2022.
According to the Government's report on CPTPP implementation, the Southeast Asian country spent $35 billion on imports from CPTPP countries between January and August.
With the above numbers, Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of $6 billion. Vietnam's exports to Canada and Mexico increased by 32% and 9.2%, respectively, to $4.5 billion and $3.2 billion.
On March 8, 2018, 11 nations signed the CPTPP, a new-generation trade deal, in Santiago, Chile: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam.
Eight months later, Vietnam accepted the trade agreement, which went into force on January 14, 2019.
