Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), in collaboration with ITL Corporation - the co-organizer and main sponsor - launched the “Vietnam Logistics Safe & Excellent Driving Skills Award.”
In recent years, Vietnam’s logistics sector continues to affirm its position as a key pillar of trade growth, helping to connect regional and global supply chains. Road transport remains at the forefront, accounting for more than 70% of freight volume and involving over 566,870 trucks of all types.
In parallel with the economic growth and the continuous improvement of infrastructure, road transport has steadily expanded its capacity in recent years. In the first seven months of 2025 alone, road transport recorded a 13.7% increase in volume and a 13.6% increase in freight turnover.
However, the sector still faces numerous challenges regarding traffic safety, operational effectiveness, and the public image of drivers. Truck and container drivers make up a substantial portion of logistics workforce.
They are crucial links in the supply chain, facing high pressure to ensure the timeliness, safety, and quality of transport. However, programs to honor, train, and enhance their professional driving skills remain limited.
In response, Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), in collaboration with ITL Corporation, have launched the Vietnam Logistics Safe & Excellent Driving Skills Award.
The event took place on August 1 at ITL’s Booth B101 during the 3rd Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition (VILOG 2025). Designed as a professional playground, the award encourages drivers to showcase their capabilities, promote safe and civilized driving, and participate in raising industry-wide benchmarks.
“Drivers are directly responsible for maintaining the safe, efficient flow of goods. They deserve to be recognized, trained, and fully equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the industry's new requirements,” affirmed Ms. Vo Thi Phuong Lan, Vice Chairwoman of VLA.
The contest is divided into two categories - container trucks and light trucks. Participants can register as individuals or as a team. Standardized vehicles are provided by organizers to ensure fairness and consistency.
Participants will undergo realistic simulations including pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip checks; long-haul driving assessments; and rapid responses to unexpected scenarios.
Professional drivers will also have the opportunity to showcase one of their most crucial skills, one that demands both experience and concentration, during the precise maneuvering and parking test, which includes the reverse parking technique.
A panel of judges comprising professionals from regulatory bodies and leading logistics companies guarantees impartiality, transparency, and expertise. Following the launch ceremony, the registration period is expected to take place in August. The official competition and awards ceremony are scheduled for October.
First-place winners in the container and light truck categories will receive VND 20 million and VND 15 million, respectively, alongside other prizes. All participants will receive certificates, keepsakes and valuable opportunities to network and learn from their peers.
More than just a competition, the Vietnam Logistics Safe & Excellent Driving Skills Award reflects VLA and ITL’s commitment to cultivating a driver community with solid skills, a professional attitude and a strong sense of responsibility toward their profession. The initiative aims to improve transport efficiency, reduce accident risks, and foster a culture of safe, professional driving across the logistics sector.
As co-organizer and principal sponsor, ITL reaffirms its pioneering role in building a shared logistics ecosystem that aligns business growth with social responsibility. “This contest is not only a highlight of VILOG 2025 but also a part of ITL’s long-term commitment to supporting the goal of improving the quality of Vietnam’s logistics workforce,” emphasized Mr. Ben Anh, Group CEO of ITL.
