Vietnam saw a significant increase in imported completely-built-up (CBU) cars during the first half of February 2023, according to the General Department of Customs

The country imported a total of 16,369 CBU cars of all types in just the first 15 days of the month, representing an increase of nearly 2,000 cars compared to the previous month.

Despite the overall increase in CBU car imports, the proportion of imported passenger cars with less than 9 seats was lower than usual during the first half of February.

In fact, only 6,260 of this type of car were imported, accounting for just 38% of the total imported cars in the first half of the month.

This is in contrast to the previous month, where passenger cars with less than 9 seats made up 91% of the total imported cars.

However, the import of commercial vehicles and passenger cars with more than 9 seats increased during the first half of February.

The number of imported commercial vehicles reached 1,451 units, accounting for nearly 10% of the total import volume, which was almost double the previous month's figures.

Overall, the surge in CBU car imports during the early part of February 2023 indicates strong demand for automobiles in Vietnam
