Ho Chi Minh City expected earn nearly $6.6 billion from tourism in 2019

Data from the Department of Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City shows that in the first 9 months, the city received about 6.2 million visitors, up 14.3% over the same period last year, completing 73% of the whole-year goal.
Nine-month total revenue was reported at VND108,300 billion ($4.76 billion), an increase of 7.4% compared to the same period of 2018.
In September alone, the city welcomed 692,000 foreign visitors, an increase of 35% over the same period in 2018.
Ho Chi Minh City is currently the most attractive tourist destination in Vietnam.
In 2018, revenue from tourism activities of the city accounted for about 25% of the total revenue from tourism nationwide. Contribution of the city’s tourism industry to gross domestic product in 2018 was 6.9%, higher than the national average of 5.9%.
Growth rate of international tourists in Ho Chi Minh City is higher than that of Vietnam. The city is the largest gateway of the country, welcoming about 51% of the total number of international tourists to Vietnam.
